Andy Roddick returns to make Wimbledon history
The Romans have partnered with leading global online betting and gaming brand Betway to launch a new social campaign starring Andy Roddick.
Despite a storied career featuring 32 titles and a US Open win, Andy Roddick never managed to clinch the coveted Wimbledon trophy.
Until now.
This
year, Betway made sure the tennis legend got his moment of glory, albeit
in an unexpected location. With the support of creative PR agency The
Romans, Roddick conquered Wimbledon... North Dakota, a quaint town with a
population of just 144.
The social-first campaign sees Andy competing against real locals, before finally being crowned ‘Wimbledon Champion (North Dakota)’ in what is sure to be the easiest, yet equally strangest tournament of his career.
Anthony Werkman CEO of Betway Group said: “Betway are hugely proud to have Andy Roddick as our global tennis ambassador, and our latest piece of content was a great way of connecting with tennis fans globally through Andy, in a fun and entertaining way during Wimbledon. We knew Andy’s elusive Wimbledon dream could be creatively fulfilled in a way that would engage tennis fans around the world, and The Romans executed that perfectly.
Jack Moriarty, senior creative at The Romans said: “How many people can say they’ve seen Andy Roddick win a title at Wimbledon? This was one of those ideas that you hope and pray that the client signs off, and luckily for us Betway were bold and brave enough to make it happen. Is North Dakota the new home of a tennis Grand Slam? We think so.”
The global campaign launched on Instagram, X, YouTube and Facebook in the UK and Ireland, USA, Canada, Germany, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Germany, UAE, South Africa, and Sweden.
