Isobel United: tis the season for team spirit
In a chaotic world, it pays to be United.
So, idependent creative agency isobel is kicking off Christmas with isobel United FC.
In its annual Christmas card, isobel has travelled back in time to the 1970’s - to give us a football team tableaux - rich in retro detail. Shot by isobel’s in-house production arm igor, the devil, as always, is very much in the detail. Wigs, a bespoke isobel team strip plus props and real/not real facial hair all come together to deliver a portrait any Sunday league team from the 70s would be proud of.
“As an agency we love to dress up and get into character - but this year we also wanted to share a message of unity and togetherness.” Says isobel co-founder and ECD, Rob Fletcher. “We hope it will put a smile on people’s faces - but also support a wider message that we are all stronger when united.”
Over the years isobel has created many memorable Christmas tableaux including: Swan Lake, Glee, Salvation Army and a Dutch Master. You can check out the back catalogue here. Creative Moment spoke to the photographer, Paul Thompson, for the story behind the pictures.
Football has been a theme throughout 2023 for isobel, with the launch of the isobel Kicks initiative, supporting girls' football teams that are underfunded, and supplying them with kits. And during isobel’s annual Summer School, a work experience partnership programme with local schools around the agency, the brief set this year was how to attract more girls into football.
isobel United was shot on location at Wealdstone FC.
