‘Women with Altitude’ campaign mixes tech, history and empowerment

The Romans' ‘Women With Altitude’ campaign for OnePlus sheds light on an overlooked aspect of women’s history by recruiting a group of budding explorers.

In celebration of International Women’s Day, OnePlus and The Romans have launched ‘Women With Altitude’, highlighting the remarkable achievements of women in exploration.

Three trailblazing adventurers (Elise Wortley, Edurne Pasaban, and Lotta Hintsa) retrace the historic footsteps of pioneering 19th century mountaineer Dorothy Pilley across the stunning landscapes of Corsica.

Armed with the OnePlus 13, the team capture every step of their journey, scaling the rugged peaks and revealing untold stories, showcasing ‘the power of determination and the spirit of adventure’.

The campaign aims to shine a light on the often-overlooked contributions of women in the field of exploration and inspire the next generation of female adventurers.

Our take

There’s a notable absence of female explorers who are household names. The Romans is doing its bit to put a stop to that by drawing viewers attention to an undiscovered bit of history.

The campaign feels unusual for a phone brand, with a down to earth, UGC feel to proceedings. The overriding point comes over well, juxtaposing the benefits of modern tech with an ode to the past while celebrating empowerment.

The action and adventure angle, however, is worth it alone, especially in a world gripped with AI fears where consumers are demanding to see some genuine jeopardy and human triumph.
